Consult GEE's link with Microsoft

In 2005, Consult GEE entered into an exciting new collaborative project with Microsoft to offer users of Microsoft Office 2003 seamless access to a portion of Consult GEE content. A selection of summary documents taken from the Consult GEE database, covering regulations and best practice in the areas of HR, health and safety, and finance, are now available to Microsoft Office 2003 users.

Microsoft's aim is to have high profile names and quality content available to its users through the research task pane in Microsoft Office 2003 applications. Existing content suppliers include Thomson businesses Gale and FindLaw, as well as Ovid, Safari, Highbeam and Factiva.

The Consult GEE project team has worked closely with Microsoft teams in London and Seattle to deliver the project and further discussions are under way to develop this exciting strategic partnership to deliver greater value to Microsoft's customer base.

The collaboration with Microsoft, which also includes free access to 10 commonly used model documents such as a Maternity Leave Plan, reflects the increasingly entrepreneurial approach being taken by Consult GEE to product development and establishing new routes to market.

About the Microsoft Research Library and accessing Consult GEE content

The Research Library Service is integrated into Microsoft Office 2003 applications including Word, Excel, Outlook® and PowerPoint®. It is designed to enable users to search databases, intranet sites, reference materials and selected Internet services whilst working on reports, charts and other files.

To access the Research Library Service simply right-click on a word or phrase in a file and click Look Up. Users can then view results from different sources, such as All Reference Books and All Research Sites, in the Research task pane. The research task pane can also be accessed directly from the Tools menu.
